Goals for 2009-2010
• Create a formal permitting assistance
program to attract, retain and grow the
business community. Partner with our
government affairs committee liaisons;
search available stimulus dollars.
• Advocacy at State/Federal levels -
continue legislative fly-ins. Develop policy
and practice of inviting candidates for
office to address the Chamber
• Annual roundtable with elected officials
for business community: “Town Hall
Meetings.” Speaker series; focus on smart
development and business growth; make the
case as to how much revenue the business
community contributes to the bottom line.
A) Business and
Government Affairs Committee
Mark Meranda, Turner Construction
Investigates legislative, quality of life
and government issues that are crucial to
our business community. Committee members
work on local, state, and federal issues.
Goals for 2009-2010:
• Increase Committee participation from all
industry sectors
• Ensure “one voice” on substantive issues
for Chamber
• Host A Town Hall Mtg. on a Substantive
Issue for business
